Innovations and enhancements of the 2024 GMC Acadia
For the 2024 model year, the renowned American manufacturer GMC unveils its all-new GMC Acadia. This latest edition features significant changes that impact the exterior silhouette, the cabin environment, and the mechanical aspects, marking an important step in the evolution of this flagship SUV. With its elegant design and technical improvements, the 2024 GMC Acadia is designed to meet the needs of modern drivers seeking to combine luxury and performance. Let's explore the detailed specifications of the 2024 GMC Acadia, now available for sale, to help you make an informed and wise choice.
GMC Acadia: Similarities in the design
Looking at it, we see a new, tougher grille, new LED headlights and lights, fender contours on the Acadia AT4 version and much more.
In addition, the GMC Acadia is gaining in length and its ground clearance has been raised. Depending on the version, you will have wheels between 18 and 22 inches.
In short, the three-row midsize SUV is undergoing a makeover and many see it with family likeness. Patrick Tremblay, for RPM, says:
“I immediately noticed the similarities of the design of the 2024 Acadia with the brand’s other products.”
2024 Acadia: A new engine
If the design shows signs of rejuvenation, under the hood of the Acadia you will see a new engine looming. The old naturally 3.6L V6 atmospheric engine gives way to a new 2.5L 4-cylinder mill that transmits 328 horsepower and 326 lb-ft of torque.
This engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all versions get all-wheel drive.
With this new engine, towing capacity increases from 4,000 lbs (1,814 kg) to 5,000 lbs (2,268 kg).
As we can notice, the 2024 GMC Acadia gains in horsepower (+18) and torque (+55) compared to the previous generation.
A larger GMC SUV
The new 2024 Acadia is significantly larger than its predecessor. The GMC manufacturer has reviewed its size from top to bottom. Let’s compare the 2023 and 2024 dimensions to be convinced:
Wheelbase |
Length |
Width |
Height |
|
2023 Acadia |
2,858 mm |
4,912 mm |
1,915 mm |
1,694 mm |
2024 Acadia |
3,071 mm |
5,181 mm |
2,022 mm |
1,775 mm |
With such dimensions, the GMC manufacturer states that:
“The total maximum cargo volume of the passenger compartment is increased by almost 24%; The Acadia offers 36.3% additional maximum storage space behind the second row and a stunning 79.6% extra space behind the third row.”
A spacious interior
As the midsize SUV is larger than ever, it can now accommodate between seven and eight occupants. Storage spaces are plentiful and no matter where you are sitting, you will have enough leg and head room.
In the GMC Acadia interior, you’ll notice an 11-inch digital instrumentation screen and a screen for the 15-inch infotainment system placed vertically with a built-in sound dial.
Jacques Tremblay, from RPM, does not hesitate to mention that:
“The interior presentation is much more modern and successful, in my opinion... In terms of seating, the Acadia also becomes roomier in this respect.”
If the cabin is spacious and comfortable, it is also technological with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, USB ports, navigation with real-time traffic and more.
New GMC Acadia with 4 appealing versions
The previous generation SLE and SLT versions are now replaced by the following versions:
- GMC Acadia Elevation
- GMC Acadia Premium Elevate
- GMC Acadia AT4
- GMC Acadia Denali
They hold innovative features such as active safety technologies, captain’s chairs, all-terrain suspension and power-operated folding third-row seats. According to your tastes, you will choose the model that best meets your expectations.
GMC Acadia: Always safer
Without going into the details of the active safety features, the GMC Acadia reviews already mention that it is a very safe vehicle:
- Power steering with blind spot monitoring
- Pedestrian and cyclist detection braking at the front
- Automatic emergency braking at intersections

Finally, the all-new 2024 GMC Acadia has been redesigned with the idea of taking this vehicle to its next level of excellence, making it more spacious, more powerful and safer.
